In order to comply with the new Incorporated Societies Act 2022 Taieri Musical is required to update our constitution by 2026.
Why the change?
The Incorporated Societies Act 2022 has been introduced to modernize and improve how societies like ours operate.
To stay compliant and continue producing musical theatre for our community, we need to update our constitution in line with the new Act.
What’s changing?
The committee has drafted an entirely new constitution, to comply with the Act, with support from Musical Theatre New Zealand.
Much of the spirit of our original rules remains, but the new document is much more comprehensive and supports the committee to make robust decisions with certainty.
What’s the process?
We're sharing the newly drafted constitution with members now, to give you an opportunity to review, ask questions and provide feedback.
We'll review the feedback and republish with any changes if necessary.
In March we'll hold a Special General Meeting, immediately prior to our Annual General Meeting, with the intention of adopting the new constitution.
We will advise a specific date and times for our Special General Meeting and Annual General Meeting in February 2025.
